What is a Developmental Educator?
What we do
Developmental educators are qualified professionals who specialise in working with people with disability using a human rights framework to achieve full and effective inclusion and participation in society.
A Developmental Educator is a qualified disability professional who supports children and young people to build skills, confidence, and meaningful participation at home, school, and in the community. We use a human-rights and strengths-based approach to understand what’s getting in the way (and what’s working), then turn that into practical strategies and supports that actually fit real life.
Observe & Assess
School/home observations to understand strengths, needs, triggers, and the supports that help participation.
Plan & Set Goals
Collaborative goal-setting with families and schools, with a clear plan that targets what matters most day-to-day.
Develop Skills & Build Capacity
Evidence-informed support to build regulation, communication, social skills, independence, and engagement: step-by-step and realistic.
Real World Support
Practical recommendations and adjustments across routines, classrooms, and big changes (new class, new school, new expectations).
